“...I was in prison, and you visited me.”
Matthew 25:36
Our church will be supporting Kairos Prison Ministry from April 11-14
There are several opportunities to help out with Kairos.
Baking Cookies
-- Baking 2-3 batches of cookies is a great contribution. Options include chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles, and peanut butter cookies. Avoid dried fruit like raisins or cranberries.
-- Cookies can be brought to the church the Sunday before the Weekend or dropped off at the CFC anytime on Thursday or Friday.
-- We need a total of 175-200 dozen cookies, and the contribution from LHMC will be wonderful.
Coloring Placemats
-- Placemats are an important part of creating a welcoming atmosphere during the Weekend.
-- We have about 10 different templates for the 350 placemats used each Kairos Weekend.
-- Placemats are colored with markers, crayons, colored pencils, or watercolors, but avoid glitter, stickers, or other embellishments.
-- We need them by Sunday, October 29th, abd it’s an excellent opportunity for families to serve together.
Being Part of the Prayer Chain
-- The team creates the prayer chain on Thursday morning of the Weekend.
-- We recruit prayer warriors to pray from Wednesday through Sunday, covering all aspects of the Weekend.
-- You can sign up to participate in the Prayer Chain or in the on-site Prayer Chapel that is created in one of the rooms in the CFC. This involves praying in 15-minute increments from 6am to 6pm.
Serving as a Day Servant
-- Volunteering as a Day Servant is less formal than some other roles, and there’s no application or background check required.
-- Day servants do things like chopping fruites and vegatables, packaging food and getting things ready for the team to go to the prison for the day.
-- If you want to help with this, connect with Kelly or Robin and they’ll help you get in touch with the Kitchen Coordinators.
Attending Closing
-- The application for the Closing event is provided and renewed for each Kairos Weekend. We have those available with the links below.
-- The Closing takes place at the Hightower Gym in Dayton, and attendees typically meet at the church by 2pm. The Ceremony lasts from 3 pm to 5 pm.
-- Carpooling is an option; connect with one of us. We would love for you to go with us!
